The Secret to Why Vulnerability is SO Important
People often associate vulnerability with fear or weakness.
I know that in my darkest hours of feeling hurt, broken, and frustrated, my immediate thought was, "maybe if I hadn't given so much or shown so much of who I am, I wouldn't be in so much pain right now" or "I am never going to love again" or maybe I even harbored anger and sadness a lot longer than it truly served me.
Which makes total sense, why wouldn't you? Being in a vulnerable place means that your guard is down and you are open, receptive, and available to what is around you and let's be honest, there are things in this world that you shouldn't allow yourself to open to.
The key to a beautiful, powerful, vulnerable state is discernment. With simple awareness of truth and seeing clearly and neutrally rather than through rose colored glasses, you have the ability to decide of which you can be open and unguarded with.
So what's the secret?
Vulnerability is human.
Vulnerability is beautiful.
Vulnerability is not such a bad thing at all, in fact, the most courageous of moments are often rooting in vulnerability and truth. "Truth & courage aren't always comfortable, but they for sure are never weakness."
Brene Brown says, "Owning our own story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy- the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light."
You cannot fall in love without stepping into a place of being vulnerable, and being in love is one of the most beautiful human emotions we can feel.
When you can be raw, honest, and fearless, that is real vulnerability. You are opening in a way that expresses the fullness of who you are, how much you love you can give (which is infinite), and what you have to offer. If you live in fear of being hurt, or in fear of rejection, you are hindering those unique gifts that only you have.
Realize that anyone or anything that has ever created pain, hurt, rejection, or disconnection during your most vulnerable times, has actually been giving you a redirection on your path for your highest good. With this in mind, you can move forward in gratitude because you wouldn't have that new growth and direction if you hadn't been open enough to be vulnerable.
Without vulnerability, you wouldn't be standing on your own two feet exactly where you are, coming this far. The same things and experiences that brought you down to your knees asking "WHY !?" are the same things that gave you the fire to ask "WHY NOT !?" and get back up.
"Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change."
Accept it, Embrace it, Learn from it, and Love it.
It's all going to be okay. Always <3
You are love. You are strength. You are courage. You are free.
